Have questions about online notarization? Below are quick answers to the most common questions about using Notary Now and completing your notarization fast, securely, and online.
How does remote online notarization work?
Remote online notarization allows your documents to be notarized entirely online using secure, encrypted audio-visual technology. You’ll verify your identity, review your documents, and sign electronically—all from your computer or mobile device. It’s fast, convenient, and legally valid.
Is online notarization legal?
Yes. Remote online notarization is legally recognized and uses state-approved platforms with identity verification, security measures, and recording requirements to ensure compliance and validity.
What do I need for my notarization?
For in-person notarizations, you’ll need a valid, government-issued photo ID and the unsigned document(s).
For online notarizations, you’ll need a valid ID, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Do I need to sign my document before the appointment?
No. Documents must be signed in the presence of the notary—either in person or during the online session—unless the document specifically allows otherwise.
